GRID UNLOCKED: Renewable energy company Anthem recently announced the energisation of the Gamma B Main Transmission Substation (MTS) pictured here. Built on the border of the Northern and Western Cape provinces, the Gamma B MTS has been integrated into the National Transmission Company South Africa’s network. It provides the infrastructure needed to feed electricity that will be produced from Anthem’s 420 MW Northern Cluster wind farm into the grid. The wheeled electricity is contracted to Rio Tinto’s Richards Bay Minerals, Sibanye-Stillwater, and NOA Group Trading.
