Ericsson, a leading pioneer in LTE technology, recently signed license agreements for LTE essential patents - solidifying its position as holding the industry's strongest LTE patent portfolio and certainly taking the lead in establishing an industry practice to promote healthy market growth.

Building on extensive experience in GSM and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA), Ericsson has been driving the development of next-generation mobile technology - 4G/LTE - as early as the 1990's - and now through the championing of industry practices on FRAND (Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory) licensing, Ericsson is making its technology available to others to meet the requirements of next-generation mobile networks. An important milestone in making the mobile digital highway a reality!

Mobile broadband is an integral factor in building sustainable cities and as LTE is here, it is no longer the story of the future; but rather the story of today. The potential for mobile and wireless is endless, but to take advantage of such possibilities, it is essential to find a provider who can guide an organisation through the process - someone with the skills, knowledge, tools and experience to work alongside. So the first step is to identify the partner who can take the business there. As the world's leading provider of technology and services, and a leading pioneer in LTE, Ericsson is certainly the partner to take any business forward!

Mobile broadband is a reality, as the Internet generation (now more than ever) has grown accustomed to having broadband access wherever they go, and not just at home or in the office. Moreover, out of the estimated 1.8 billion* people who will have broadband by 2012, some two-thirds will be mobile broadband consumers.

This upswing emphasises a need for efficient solutions to simplify the combined platforms of all three generations of technology, as well as the need for cost efficiency. Full mobile broadband is intuitive and simple, and Long Term Evolution (LTE) offers ubiquitous coverage and roaming with existing 2G and 3G networks. People can already browse the Internet or send e-mails using HSPA-enabled notebooks, replace their fixed DSL modems with HSPA modems or USB dongles, and send and receive video or music using 3G phones. With LTE, the user experience will be even better. It will further enhance more demanding applications like interactive TV, mobile video blogging, advanced games or professional services.
