A BIG electrical and instrumentation contract for the NCP Isipingo tartaric malic acid plant has been completed by B&W Electrical, of Alberton, Gauteng.

The company was called upon to supply and install the new distribution, low-voltage distribution, instrumentation and lighting and small power.

The instrumentation was of particular interest in that a distribution system was used with hard-wired communications between instrument node and integral solenoid junction boxes and the control system.

This system produced a cost-effective alternative to fibre-optic data highways in the complex but compact plant.

Electrical and instrumentation projects are the cornerstone on which B&W Electrical has built its reputation.

Extensive services are available, ranging from power reticulation, revamping and upgrading process plants, mining, small power and lighting, as well as high-voltage installation up to 88 kV.

As one of the largest independent contractors in the market, the company has a responsibility to its clients, which is exemplified by the commitment of its management team to all projects, says spokesperson John Barrow.
