German manufacturer specialising in vacuum pumps, blowers, systems and service, Busch Vacuum Solutions, has closed a strategic acquisition in the vacuum technology industry, having acquired prominent player in the high and ultra-high vacuum pump manufacturing domain Pfeiffer Vacuum.

This acquisition underscores Busch’s “unwavering commitment” to innovation, growth, customer satisfaction and its position as a “leader in the vacuum and overpressure technology market”.

Busch Vacuum Solutions Africa technical director Reeza Hoosen comments that the acquisition is a paradigm shift in the vacuum industry in Africa. He notes the alignment between the core strategic cultures of the two companies, emphasising their shared dedication to excellence and innovation.

Both Busch and Pfeiffer Vacuum boast a history of introducing innovative products and a “constant focus” on research and development. Hoosen highlights the synergy between the companies as a “perfect match”, enabling them to cater to a diverse range of products and solutions.

Speaking at the launch of the brand new Busch Pfeiffer Vacuum head office in Johannesburg, Busch Vacuum Solutions Africa MD Sean Pieterse elaborated on the reasoning for the acquisition of Pfeiffer Vacuum.

“Busch Vacuum Solutions Africa has been given a strong boost with the acquisition of Pfeiffer Vacuum. As a full subsidiary of Pfeiffer, we now add their world-leading range of high and ultra-high vacuum pumps, vacuum systems and components as well as leak detection services and products,” stated Pieterse.

He elaborated that the company’s focus is on service and being close to its customers, striving to be recognised as the “smartest solution provider” across the continent.

He asserted: “I give our Pfeiffer customers my personal commitment that they will receive the same care and attention that Busch offers the market now”.

The integration of the latest technologies at the head office is vital to Busch’s strategic investment. The new building serves as a strategic hub for various technical initiatives aimed at advancing the products and solutions to better serve the continent’s customers from the hub.

The new building has been fully equipped with a service centre, Pfeiffer Class 10 000 clean room, vacuum volumetric flow-testing equipment, liquid ring test bay, online condition monitoring systems, and a dedicated training room.

The Pfeiffer class 10 000 cleanroom is specifically designed for servicing of turbomolecular ultra-high vacuum pumps. This initiative addresses a critical market need for localised support and significantly reduces lead times associated with equipment maintenance.

The cleanroom facility stands as a testament to Busch’s dedication to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Pieterse emphasised that Busch Vacuum and Pfeiffer Vacuum recognise the importance of providing continued support throughout a pump’s life span and ongoing maintenance to enhance operational efficiency and value for clients.

This strategic acquisition of Pfeiffer Vacuum and the launch of the head office building represents a transformative milestone for Busch Vacuum Solutions, solidifying its presence for the continent. With a shared commitment, Busch Vacuum and Pfeiffer Vacuum are proud to embark on a new era of growth, delivering unparalleled value to Africa.
