Attacq appoints new nonexecutive directors
JSE-listed real estate investment trust Attacq has appointed Fikile de Buck and Dr Gustav Rohde as nonexecutive directors, effective February 1.
De Buck, with over 23 years of executive-level experience in financial reporting, and Rohde, with 20 years of strategic leadership, are seasoned leaders who will be key contributors to Attacq’s ambitions of creating sustainable value for all stakeholders.
Attacq says their appointment will bolster the diversity and skills mix on the board and are evidence of Attacq's efforts to enhance its corporate governance structures.
De Buck is a highly skilled finance professional, previously serving as a CFO and nonexecutive director in both listed and non-listed companies and will become a member and chairperson of the audit and risk committee.
Rohde is currently engineering and advisory firm Zutari deputy CEO, and he has held various board positions. He is a highly regarded strategic practitioner and a supporter of diversity and will also sit on the transformation, social and ethics committee.
“We are delighted to welcome such experienced and talented leaders who have chosen to join us in our continued efforts to ensure that our shareholders, stakeholders, and the company's interests are protected through good corporate governance practices, says Attacq CEO Jackie van Niekerk.
She says Attacq believes De Buck and Rohde will contribute to how the company drives positive value for the company, communities and the environments it operates in, as well as how Attacq delivers its purpose of creating smart, safe and sustainable community spaces, providing “remarkable experiences” in its managed hubs.
De Buck holds a BA in economics and accounting and is a member of the UK Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, while Rohde holds a PhD in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in the US.
