UNESCO Africa Engineering Week 2023 & Africa Engineering Conference to be hosted in South Africa
The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is excited to announce the highly anticipated 9th UNESCO Africa Engineering Week (AEW) and the 7th Africa Engineering Conference, scheduled to take place from the 25th to the 28th of September 2023 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, South Africa.
This landmark event is set to feature some of the most important speakers and industry members in the engineering profession. Renowned experts and thought leaders from both public and private sectors will grace the stage, sharing ground-breaking ideas and best practices that are not to be missed. Their valuable insights and expertise will drive discussions on shaping a brighter and more sustainable future for Africa through engineering excellence.
ECSA CEO Dr. Bridget Ssamula states that the UNESCO AEW and Africa Engineering Conference aims to honour, inspire, and cultivate engineering excellence across Africa. “More than just a conference, it serves as a platform to educate and enthuse the youth and the public about the fascinating world of engineering, emphasizing its role in addressing the pressing challenges faced in the region.”
She adds that engineers are the architects of the future, and this extraordinary gathering will spotlight their crucial contributions in shaping a brighter and more sustainable world.
“The event will bring together aspiring and seasoned engineers, professionals from both the public and private sectors, and individuals with an inherent curiosity about engineering's wonders. By fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth, the UNESCO AEW and Africa Engineering Conference will ignite the spark of curiosity and set the course for engineering excellence in Africa,” she concludes.
Event highlights include:
- Inspiring Programmes: The event will feature a variety of specialised programmes catering to diverse interests. These include the Women in Engineering Programme (B2B), Student and Young Professionals Programme, Technical Papers Programme, and Women Stream Programme, all of which will provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and mentorship to attendees.
