Two new products have been launched as part of a diesel-electric power series for the aggregates market.

All the process functions of the Metso’s Lokotrack EC crusher range are electric, with units designed to be powered with external electricity.

The Lokotrack LT400J is a 68 t mobile jaw crusher designed for the primary crushing of hard rock and recycled aggregates, while the Lokotrack LT350C is a 50 t mobile cone crusher for secondary and tertiary crushing.

The LT350C is equipped with the Nordberg HP350e cone crusher, while the LT400J model incorporates the Nordberg C120 jaw crusher. Both units can be combined with each other as well as with Lokotrack mobile screens.

“When external electricity is available, the new electric power transmission provides high capacity with minimised operational cost and CO2 emissions. When not available, the onboard diesel gensets allow maximum independent operation time. Also, auxiliary units, such as mobile screens and stackers can be powered from the same gensets, which will further reduce the needed power to run the complete plant,” says Metso director: new Lokotrack offering Jarmo Vuorenpää.

The company explains that its new range has been developed using modular architecture, which reduces the number of components and provides scalable solutions that can be adapted for different applications and capacities.

“The new way to do product development enables a faster and more agile way to meet the changing customer needs. Furthermore, it enables more efficient support for the machines with fewer parts needed and easier upgrades of new features,” says Metso senior VP: products business line aggregates business Renaud Lapointe.

The EC range is said to be designed for demanding conditions, with a focus on safety and ease of use. New digital tools allow the units to be operated from the excavator and enable quick set-up from transport to operation.
