A new wastewater pump from KSB Pumps and Valves is described as an ultra-durable long service pump that experiences fewer blockages and has lower maintenance requirements than traditional pumps.

The KSB Amarex Pro submersible pump is designed to help solve challenges, such as aging infrastructure and increased maintenance requirements for older pumps, faced by municipalities and industrial pump users.

KSB Pumps and Valves wastewater market area manager Hugo du Plessis asserts that the new series is “a game‑changer for municipal and industrial pump stations alike”, adding that the pumps are built for reliability and ease-of-use, featuring a combination of technologically advanced hydraulic design with advanced smart capabilities for improved management.

“At the core is the open dual‑vane D‑max impeller for improved hydraulic efficiency and unsurpassed energy savings, particularly in heavy‑duty abrasive or aggressive waste‑water environments. The pumps are matched to IE5‑class motors to further improve efficiency and a range of smart features allows users to run the pump correctly for different conditions. It monitors its condition in real time, automatically detecting blockages, engaging in de-ragging routines and adjusting its operating point to match system demands, which is a feature that significantly reduces wear and the need for unscheduled maintenance,” adds Du Plessis.

“With the Amarex Pro, clients can expect far fewer breakdowns. Its automatic clog‑detection and soft‑start technology reduces stress on the system and integrated motor and vibration protection gives operators full confidence in continuous operations.”

An additional feature is that the pump is a ‘plug‑and‑play’ system, with each unit pre‑set to the client's specified duty point. The user connects to KSB’s free and intuitive ServiceTool to fine‑tune performance and to facilitate easy commissioning and configuration, even in remote sites.

The range can fulfil multiple roles and features ‘adaptive operating point’ flexibility which enables two to three duty sizes to be covered by a single pump. This reduces the number of product variants required while also reducing spare parts stock in the field.

The pumps are designed to be robust and low maintenance. Each unit is supplied with a hard‑iron impeller and a choice of mechanical seals suited to abrasive sludges and aggressive waste‑water. A range of adapter claws and the ‘GoToAmarex’ app enable upgrades to existing installations.
