Epiroc highlights hand-held rock drill at customer day
From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.
Sashnee Moodley:
Conventional mining operations have relied on pneumatic machines for years, but mining equipment supplier Epiroc is confident that its hand-held rock drill 100 is poised to replace current pneumatic models in the market, especially once its multi-stage pusher leg becomes available. Journalist Simone Liedtke, who attended the customer day in June, gives us more details.
Simone Liedtke:
The HRD100 finds extensive applications in conventional mining and tunneling operations, particularly in support and production drilling.
It excels at drilling and blasting operations required to develop and maintain mine faces, but Epiroc business development manager South Africa for HRD David Baird tells Engineering News & Mining Weekly more about the HRD100 during the company’s customer day earlier this year.

Simone Liedtke:
With its multi-stage pusher leg, the HRD100 also offers versatility and adaptability to different mining environments.

Local content was quite topical during Baird presentation on the day, so he tells us a bit more about the specifics.
