Engen, in collaboration with the Community-Engen Joint Committee, has spread some heart-warming holiday cheer to 30 children residing at the Ocean View Child and Youth Care Centre on the Bluff.

Engen's generous donation of Santa Boxes, brimming with delightful treats and toys, brightened the faces of these vulnerable children aged 6 to 18.

The Engen team visited the centre distributing hampers containing LiquiFruit, Bottled Water, Simba Chips, KitKats, Toppers Biscuits, Toros Sweets, Lolly Pops, Christmas Crackers, and a toy for each child.

Anusha Jaimungal, Social Worker and Supervisor representing Ocean View Child and Youth Care Centre, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Engen for this generous gesture, emphasising its immeasurable impact on the children.

“This valued contribution brought much joy and smiles to our children who have so little to hope for. Engen has truly made this Festive Season magical for them. The joy and excitement were palpable as the children unwrapped their surprises, creating unforgettable moments,” said Jaimungal.

The Ocean View Child and Youth Care Centre provides round-the-clock care services and offers a safe and nurturing environment for children in need.

Temporary safe care for children is a crucial aspect of social welfare designed to address the needs of children facing challenging circumstances, ranging from abuse and neglect to emergencies requiring immediate intervention.

The centre’s overarching goal is to provide a secure, supportive, and stable environment for children during times of crisis.

Dr James Xolani Nyawera, Engen's Head of Transformation and Stakeholder Engagement, expressed the company's commitment to community well-being, stating: “As a caring and inclusive company with 'heart,' we hope that this small gesture offers some comfort to these vulnerable young children to help brighten up their Festive Season.”

Engen's support aligns seamlessly with their commitment and focus on community well-being, showcasing its dedication to making a positive impact on the communities they serve.

As a longstanding and committed member of the South Durban Basin community, Engen welcomes good faith collaboration in partnering with its neighbours in the best interests of all parties.

As such, Engen continuously engages openly and transparently with a broad representation of South Durban Basin community representatives through the Community-Engen Joint Committee to address matters of concern and to explore the co-creation of future opportunities.

The open Community-Engen Joint Committee is Engen’s primary platform of engagement with the South Durban Basin community, through which numerous community-led outreach initiatives aimed at uplifting and empowering the local community continue to be jointly and effectively spearheaded.
