Four-chamber pump offers new capabilities
UNDER PRESSURE The new VersiJet four-chamber pump from Xylem brings new capabilities to its Flojet industrial offer, bringing higher pressure capabilities, greater ambient temperature resistance and longer pumping life
Leading critical water technology company Xylem has enhanced its innovative Flojet VersiJet Series industrial motor-driven diaphragm (MDD) pumps with the introduction of a new, four-chamber model.
The new MDD pump leverages market-leading pump technology from Flojet and is designed to serve industrial applications requiring flow rates of between about 11 ℓ/min to 19 ℓ/min.
The new pump is available under the Flojet VersiJet Series and replaces the existing Flojet Quad Series, offering higher pressure capabilities, greater ambient temperature resistance and longer pumping life.
The pump head, designed with a cast aluminium lower housing, enhances durability and handles a maximum pressure of up to 60 psi, while equivalent MDD pumps under the Flojet Quad Series currently handle a maximum pressure of 45 psi.
The four-chamber pumps also offer improved heat resistance and have been tested to achieve temperature stabilisation in elevated ambient conditions of 50 ºC.
This capability opens the four-chamber pump’s design to applications in markets requiring spraying or on-demand pumping in high temperature conditions, unlike the previous model available under the Flojet Quad Series. The pump is suitable for use in heavy-duty applications such as in agriculture, farming and construction, owing to the level of heat durability.
Jabsco, Flojet, Rule associate product manager Young Baeg says, “the introduction of the four-chamber MDD pump to our established VersiJet Series will enhance our Flojet industrial pump portfolio significantly and incorporates the robust qualities of our innovative VersiJet Series into this new four-chamber design”.
In addition, Flojet offers its industrial original-equipment manufacturer customers increased pumping capabilities through a simplified portfolio backed by Xylem’s technical expertise. The expanded VersiJet offer makes it easier for customers to find the right pump for the job, adds Baeg.
The four-chamber MDD pump joins an expansive lineup of industrial pumps for use in applications including spraying, fluid transfer, filtration, cooling, dispensing and pressure boosting. The VersiJet Series also includes an innovative five-chamber MDD pump capable of handling pressures of up to 70 psi at a maximum capacity of about 23 ℓ/min.
Baeg highlights that since its launch, the VersiJet five-chamber pump has been successfully deployed in heavy-duty applications, with agriculture equipment customers, noting its superior performance, compared with competitor pumps.
The pump’s durable exterior coupled with its “excellent shock absorption capabilities” supports the operation of agricultural machinery in harsh environments, while its IPX6-rated water protection certification is well-suited for efficient installation in tough surroundings, he says.
He notes that customers have also cited the reliability of the VersiJet Series as a deciding factor when selecting pumps, owing to the consistent level of quality assurance offered by the global pump brand.
Established in 1975 as a manufacturer of special application pumps with an initial focus on the emerging cleaning machine market, Xylem’s Flojet brand has evolved into a leading global supplier of small pumps, motors and dispensing pumps for a variety of industries.
