Get That Great Mobile Idea Off The Ground In 72 Hours

WorldPlay Mobile Solutions can help clients monetise that great mobile app or content idea by arranging the required direct carrier billing (DCB) within 72 hours.
That’s the word from Jacqui Jones, CEO of Joburg-based WorldPlay Mobile Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a leading mobile aggregation firm with direct links to South Africa’s biggest mobile network operators (MNOs).
“SA’s underperforming economy needs our robust mobile sector to provide it with a much-needed shot in the arm. Mobile content and applications firms in partnership with mobile aggregators like WorldPlay can play a role in boosting GDP (Gross Domestic Product) by getting their Rands and cents-generating services off the ground in record time,” Ms Jones says.
She says that clients in the gaming, video content, ePublishing and lifestyle content spaces are most interested in monetizing their services through SMS, USSD or OBS. Subscription-based services provided on the OBS (Online Billing Service) model remain especially popular and cellular users continue to transact with SA mobile content and applications services with confidence as the local mobile industry makes headway against fraud,” she adds.
SA’s Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA), for example, last year enlisted the services of a global mobile security firm to help the local mobile industry win the battle against mobile fraud emanating mostly from overseas, amongst other initiatives.
For WorldPlay to guarantee a 72-hour DCB turnaround time, however, clients should be supported by a strong technical team with an extensive understanding of Direct Carrier Billing. While an existing infrastructure with certain minimum requirements is also necessary, there’s no need to sweat the small stuff, advise Ms Jones. “We’re always ready to advise clients how best to turn their mobile creativity into bottom-line boosting reality.
“DCB is ideally-suited to micro-billing SA’s mobile users really small amounts for certain mobile or real-world products and services. A huge advantage of billing consumers via their prepaid or postpaid mobile accounts is that there are many times more mobile users in the country compared to credit or debit card users. DCB means the unbanked can participate in the country’s formal economy and that’s potentially a huge boost for GDP,” concludes Ms Jones.
As a mobile services aggregator, WorldPlay is able to offer clients a range of services across multiple bearer technologies and MNOs. Aside from generating at least some revenue within a generous six month time period, the company places virtually no minimum requirements on potential clients and boasts a sound knowledge of the SA mobile services regulatory environment that comes with a longtime on-the-ground local presence.
