Uranium company GTI Energy on Tuesday announced board changes with chairperson Nathan Lude stepping down and Simon Williamson joining as a nonexecutive director.

Williamson was the GM and a director of Cameco Australia until December last year. Prior to his 13 years at Cameco, he held roles in the minerals industry in Australia and the US.

“Simon’s appointment strengthens the board's uranium project development capability, and we expect his input to be invaluable as we accelerate development at the company’s flagship Lo Herma project,” said executive director Bruce Lane.

GTI recently contracted its preferred Wyoming-based exploration drilling contractor for its July drill programme at Lo Herma. The planned programme includes 71 drill hole locations and construction of up to five groundwater monitoring wells.

Following the completion of the drill programme, GTI intends to publish an updated mineral resource estimate and exploration target range for the project. The updated resource estimate should support near-term development of a scoping study to demonstrate the economic potential of the project.
