From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.

Sashnee Moodley:

The metallurgical-grade limestone mine of KP Lime in the Northern Cape is looking to expand operations with the sinking of a new pit in the next two years. Creamer Media's Donna Slater covered the story.

Supplying limestone products to clients in South Africa and abroad, KP Lime sees future growth for the company which is currently mining the Bowden pit. The existing pit has a life of another 12 to 14 years, while the proposed new pit, which is yet to be named, will have a life of at least 60 years, thereby ensuring continuity of operations for KP Lime.

KP Lime sales and marketing chief Mpho Lebeta speaks to Creamer Media’s Donna Slater about these developments.

KP Lime sales and marketing chief Mpho Lebeta:

Sashnee Moodley:

The mine was acquired by IMR in April 2021 and has since then refined its assets to suit the needs of the limestone market it serves. Lebeta explains the market conditions over the past year.

Sashnee Moodley:
