The project plans to replace 100-year-old power-generating turbines at the Lake Byllesby dam.

The project is expected to increase the facility’s energy production by 75%. Currently, the dam generates enough electricity to power 2 400 homes a year; the redevelopment of the dam will produce energy for another 1 800 homes a year.

Latest Developments
Voith Hydro North America has been awarded the water-to-wire contract, which supplies Dakota County with Kaplan turbines and other powerhouse components. The contract calls for the company to provide two new double-regulated 2.25 MW Z-turbines, new controls, generators and other components that will modernise the small hydrofacility, as well as improve reliability while reducing operations and maintenance costs.
