Landmark Partnership Announced Between Fortress and Crusader Logistics
This article has been supplied.
Prominent logistics company, Crusader Logistics have concluded a partnership with REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust), Fortress on a 20 000m2 custom-built distribution centre located in Eastport Logistics Park. The property is adjacent to the R21 and R25 highways in Gauteng, for high visibility and easy access to key transport networks.
This R240 million development project will further Fortress’s strategy of developing and owning two-thirds of its portfolio in logistics, while enabling Crusader Logistics to consolidate their operations for Johannesburg on one site. Once completed, the property will be a world-class logistics hub, capable of storing multiple classes of goods using the latest technology.
“Crusader Logistics had specific location requirements for this partnership. It needed to fall within the companies ‘centre of gravity’ – that is, providing sufficient square footage and proximity to transport networks, while still being within their primary areas of operation,” says Justin Thom of Galetti Corporate Real Estate, who was responsible for structuring and finalising the transaction.
Travelling time to the OR Tambo International Airport is a mere 10 minutes and the area is also home to the likes of Clippa, Teraco, Pick ‘n Pay and Takealot.com.
In addition to enabling enhanced logistics for Crusader Logistics and Fortress, the development of this high-tech facility will also create employment opportunities for the Ekurhuleni community.
The warehouse is set to start operating in September 2023.
