Manganese first-mover deserves major acknowledgment for getting ahead of world

The advance of Manganese Metal Company in the field of manganese sulphate is remarkable. Here is a company in Mpumalanga beating the West to capture a first-mover slice of the fast-developing battery electric vehicle market. The shareholders are funding the initial R150-million effort to produce the precursor material that their clients in Asia want urgently to sell to the automotive industry.

The way that the South African company is making sure that they will get it is great to see. No other country outside of China is doing what Manganese Metal Company of Mbombela can do and the initial speedy project will likely be followed by one five times the size before the end of this decade. Hopefully, the likes of the State-owned Industrial Development Corporation will back the company as it enters its next significantly enlarged phase.
