The Chery Group division comprising the Omoda and Jaecoo marques – Brand O&J – entered the South African market in 2023 with the launch of the Omoda C5.

Since then, the Chinese manufacturer's lineup has grown with the addition of the Jaecoo J7 and the Omoda C9.

Looking ahead to 2025, both marques say they are planning to expand their respective ranges further as they enter new segments of the local market.

“With the introduction of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs), alongside our traditional offerings, Brand O&J is expanding into new segments,” says Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa GM Hans Greyling.

Within the Omoda brand, the C7 is set to arrive next year, with this model to be positioned between the C5 and C9.

Omoda introduced the C9 in October. In 2025, the C9 lineup will expand with the introduction of the C9 PHEV, marking the brand’s foray into electrification in South Africa.

The C9 PHEV is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that receives electrical assistance from up to three motors.

For the Jaecoo brand, the J5 will be positioned below the J7.

Brand O&J says this vehicle marks Jaecoo’s first entry into the popular smaller sports-utility vehicle segment.

The all-electric J6 will also arrive in South Africa next year.

Brand O&J says this model will offer consumers a battery-powered crossover with light offroading capability.

It will be first fully electric vehicle to wear the Jaecoo badge.

Brand O&J will also add the J7 PHEV to its stable next year.

Also arriving in 2025, the J8 is set to occupy the top spot in the Jaecoo lineup as this marque’s flagship model.

A PHEV variant is also available overseas, but is yet to be confirmed for South Africa.
