Rebecca-Roe PFS highlights potential for new mining hub, says Ramelius
Gold producer Ramelius Resources on Thursday unveiled the results of its prefeasibility study (PFS) for the Rebecca-Roe gold project, located 150 km east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
The study demonstrates robust financial returns, highlighting the potential for a new mining hub in an under-explored region. The company said it would take advantage of this with its hub-and-spoke model.
Key economic indicators include an after-tax net present value, at a 5% discount, of A$332-million at a base gold price of A$3 500/oz and A$610-million at A$4 000/oz, with an internal rate of return after tax of 26%.
The project is expected to produce an average of 130 000 oz/y of gold over its nine-year life-of-mine, with an all-in sustaining cost of A$2 346/oz.
Ore reserves are estimated at 20-million tonnes at 1.3 g/t for 0.85-million ounces of contained gold from openpit mining and 5-million ounces at 1.8 g/t for 0.29-million ounces of contained gold from underground operations. In total, the mine plan includes 25-million tonnes at 1.4 g/t for 1.1-million ounces of contained gold.
A three-million-tonne-a-year processing plant, estimated to cost A$190-million, will be constructed adjacent to the Rebecca deposit, with metallurgical recovery projected at 92.9%.
Mining is scheduled to commence in September 2026, with production starting in July 2027.
The company has set a timeline to complete the definitive feasibility study and make a final investment decision by July 2025.
MD Mark Zeptner commented that the Rebecca-Roe PFS validated the acquisition decision and positioned the project as a future replacement for the Edna May operation. Combined with Mt Magnet, the project is expected to elevate Ramelius’ gold production to more than 220 000 oz/y.
