Rentals boost flexibility, sustainability
SCALING STORAGE The modularity of ISO tanks makes it easy for businesses to scale storage as needed, either by adding to existing assets or reallocating units
Renting International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) tanks is becoming an increasingly popular option for bulk liquid storage and transport, as it provides a cost-effective, flexible alternative to that of ownership.
Renting reduces upfront capital expenses, eliminates maintenance requirements and enables businesses to adjust capacity based on demand. It also forms part of operating expenditure instead of capital expenditure (capex) requirements, says container supplier Almar ISO tanks head Rhett Oertel.
The absence of long-term ownership commitments enables companies to scale logistics and storage operations as needs evolve, without significant capex. This flexibility also enables them to allocate more financial resources towards growth initiatives, rather than asset acquisition.
Oertel adds that renting ISO tanks is particularly beneficial for bulk liquids handling companies that intend to stay financially agile. This approach enables them to efficiently adapt to demand fluctuations, ensuring a versatile and adaptable storage solution.
“ISO tanks offer a secure, flexible and efficient solution for industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food processing, where safe bulk storage is essential.”
Constructed to meet rigorous international standards, these tanks are durable, easy to transport and designed to reduce the risks associated with handling, transport and unloading.
The high-capacity design of ISO tanks reduces the need for multiple smaller containers, simplifying logistics and enhancing operational efficiency, while their modularity makes it easy for businesses to scale storage as needed, either by adding to existing assets or reallocating units.
“Almar is committed to sustainability by offering reusable ISO tanks that reduce single-use containers and packaging waste across the supply chain,” notes Oertel.
These reusable tanks significantly reduce the environmental footprint associated with bulk storage by lowering the need for disposable materials and supporting sustainable logistics practices.
In line with this commitment, the company is exploring advancements in ISO tank design to enhance durability and energy efficiency, further reducing the environmental impact of transport and logistics.
These innovations are part of Almar’s active support for the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industry’s transition towards greener practices.
To address the growing demand for ISO tanks, the company is also strengthening its global supply network to ensure consistent availability.
Through the prioritisation of inventory access and collaborating with partners, Almar aims to support businesses in maintaining uninterrupted operations, even when demand fluctuates.
Oertel says this dedication to availability underscores the company’s commitment to customer support and operational resilience.
The ISO tanks offer a safe, compliant option for handling large liquid quantities that are crucial for industries requiring high reliability and risk mitigation, he concludes.
