Port of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) appointed Amulet Group Consortium in June 2024 as the preferred bidder to build and operate the solar PV plant.

Amulet will design, build, test, commission, maintain and operate the solar plant, as well as a battery system at the port, for seven years. 

The consortium comprises Amulet Group and LTM Energy Group.

Project Description
The plant is part of TNPA’s plans to decarbonise its port operations under its renewable-energy purchase programme. 

Under this programme, TNPA plans to install an estimated 100 MW of renewable energy that will be implemented cumulatively across its eight commercial seapots in South Africa.

The Richards Bay PV plant will have a capacity of 20 MW.
