Non-profit mutual assurance organisation Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA) showcased the vital part it plays in helping to ensure workplace health and safety in South Africa through its prevention programme at the 2025 A-OSH Expo, held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

Speaking at the event, RMA prevention programme manager Ronwin Goliath told Engineering News that the organisation offers complete, end-to-end occupational health and safety solutions that help to prevent workplace injuries and accidents in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

RMA prevention head Dr Jessica Hutchings added that RMA has seen a 29% reduction in the incident rate of companies that have joined the programme.

While she says South Africa is still lagging in terms of incorporating AI and IoT, RMA has piloted an app that it hopes to launch soon for its clients that will assist them in reporting incidents more quickly, as well as capture the necessary information.

“It’s a really wonderful opportunity to be at the A-OSH Expo to showcase what we’re doing, and also to network with different colleagues. As RMA, our big drive is to protect workers, as we feel that they are the heartbeat of the economy.”
