National carrier South African Airways (SAA) acting CEO Nico Bezuidenhout and China national passenger airline Air China president Song Zhiyong on Friday agreed on the establishment of a joint working group to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two airlines.

Coinciding with the visit of President Jacob Zuma to China, the airlines had decided to strengthen their relationship within the Star Alliance network, as part of the strengthened cooperation between the two countries.

Network configuration to provide better passenger and cargo services between South Africa and China and countries adjacent to both, would be a key element of the strengthened relationship, SAA said in a statement.
