Service Center Metals orders remelt plant
This article has been supplied.
Service Center Metals from Virginia, U.S.A., has placed an order with Hertwich Engineering, Austria, for the supply of a compacttype remelt plant. With this plant, the American company aims to boost its flexibility and save costs, as it can then remelt inhouse and external recycling scrap into extrusion material.
The Hertwich Engineering scope of supply comprises a stationary multi-chamber melting and casting furnace, two horizontal casting machines with flying saw and continuous homogenization plant. The two ingot diameters of 9" (228 millimeters) and 14" (356 millimeters) can be produced at the same time. The plant is particularly ecofriendly and operates below the EPA restrictions on emissions. The annual capacity of the compact remelt plant is 30,000 tons. Commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2014.
