Construction and earthmoving equipment distributor CASE Construction South Africa says it had a healthy pipeline of equipment supply orders for the first quarter of 2018 to meet client requirements for construction projects.

“We have several orders being processed and delivered, including a housing development construction site, which started in January,” says CASE MD Ross Collard.

He points out that the housing development project, for a client dealing with plant hire, requires two skid steer loaders (SSLs) with attachments, including a trencher and a hydraulic hammer. CASE offers SSLs to the construction, agriculture and mining sectors.

“We have various models being delivered to projects this quarter, including the SR200 SSL, which is used by clients requiring attachments. Owing to its high-flow hydraulic system and added operating weight, the SR200 is ideal for several attachment configurations.”

The SR150 SSL that CASE offers is also popular, with its turbo-charged engine offering power and fuel efficiency to clients.

“Clients have different expectations of their equipment, we need to be mindful of this and offer the correct configuration to suit job requirements.”

Collard elaborates that the SSL is a versatile machine, with several models available offering compact loading in tight spaces to a specialised output, achieved through attachments.

“We have a constant flow of requests for the SSL range because it is a world-class machine offering reliability, efficient fuel consumption and optimum performance.”

He adds that, owing to its national footprint, CASE’s aftersales parts and service are available through the company’s branch network, with skilled staff on hand to assist with requirements.

The company is mindful of its market share growth and is actively ensuring that its sales teams and dealer network can assist each customer with the correct machine for the job, which also creates a trust that often results in second sales.

Collard highlights that CASE has also established a strong presence in the digital media space, with dedicated content on various platforms, enabling clients to stay updated and have ample means of communicating with the company.

SSL Specification
CASE’s radial lift skid steers (SR) and vertical lift skid steers (SV) series SSLs encompass a range of models, with advanced features for improved performance, enhanced productivity and increased operator comfort.

“Robust CASE SR and SV series SSLs have been designed for exceptional driving force, increased stability and reliable handling in all conditions,” avers Collard.

These loaders are also equipped with turbocharged, four cylinder, Tier 3-certified diesel engines, which provide the power and torque required to efficiently cope in the toughest site environments, also ensuring operating efficiency and fuel economy.

An important feature of this SSL series is the large fuel tank – with a capacity of between 60.5 ℓ and 96.5 ℓ – which enables the machine to operate all day without the need to stop operations for refuelling.

“Six SR boom skid steers have been engineered for digging, loading and pushing, and three SV machines efficiently handle demanding lift and carry tasks.”

Models in the SR and SV series range from the SR130, with a 590 kg operating capacity, to the SV300, with a 1 360 kg operating capacity. Peak torque specifications are between 130.5 Nm at 1 750 rpm and 340 Nm at 1 400 rpm. Tipping load capacities extend from 1 179 kg to 2 720 kg and the breakout force of the bucket cylinder is between 18.5 kN and 38.2 kN.

Users can choose from standard mechanical drives or optional electro-hydraulic switchable controls. The latter option facilitates the matching of control patterns to operator preference.

Further, Collard says the SSLs have a “power stance chassis, with up to a 21% longer wheelbase and 30/70 front/rear weight distribution, designed to safely increase the capacity to lift and haul more material”.

The design of this SSL series allows for easy, ground-line access for daily maintenance checks. Two retaining bolts facilitate convenient cab tilting for access to hydraulic and transmission components when necessary. A safety locking system, which prevents the cab from dropping, is automatically activated.

Battery and environmental drain hoses are easily accessible from the side of the machine for quick service and maintenance.

The sealed cab design of the SSL series reduces noise levels and dust ingress. It is also equipped with an ultra narrow wire side-screen design, with a larger glass surface to provide 360º visibility for the operator, with side lighting allowing for 24 hour operation.

Optional attachments for these SSLs include buckets, pallet forks, breakers, augers, sweepers, backhoes, stump grinders, cement mixers, cold planers, trenchers, rollers and slot cutters.

“A hydraulic coupler enables the operator to switch attachments without having to leave the cab. The standard connect-under-pressure feature allows for the connection of tool hoses without having to use a wrench,” says Collard.

Various tyres for specific applications include heavy and severe duty, nonpneumatic, flotation, mining and premium liner options.
