Africa’s largest manufacturer of overhead cranes, RGM Cranes, continues to redefine the future of industrial handling with a focus on ergonomic, intelligent lifting systems. With over 36 years of industry expertise, the company has earned a reputation for designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining robust overhead lifting systems that meet the evolving needs of sectors across the continent and beyond.

Two standout technologies – the Gravity Ant electric manipulator and the Aluminium Light Crane System – exemplify RGM Cranes’ commitment to delivering user-friendly solutions that prioritise both safety and efficiency.

The Gravity Ant, developed in partnership with European specialist Güralp, is engineered for high-frequency environments where speed, control and operator comfort are non-negotiable. Designed with float mode, it allows precise handling with the lightest touch, making it ideal for repetitive assembly tasks and workshops. With integrated safety features such as dual-hand control and emergency stop functions, the Gravity Ant enhances productivity without compromising on safety.

Complementing this is the Aluminium Light Crane System, a modular and lightweight overhead solution tailored for light-load applications. Known for its quiet, low-friction operation and easy assembly, it is particularly suited to manufacturing facilities, automotive workshops, and warehousing spaces that demand agility and smooth handling. Its anodised aluminium profile provides excellent strength-to-weight performance, ensuring consistent, user-friendly movement.

“We’ve seen a growing demand for equipment that doesn’t just perform but also improves the daily working environment,” says RGM Cranes Group Operating Officer and President David Dowling. “These technologies answer that call with simplicity, strength and smart design.”

“Our goal is always to solve real-world challenges through innovation that’s accessible and effective,” adds RGM Cranes Group CEO and chairperson Alex Dowling. “We’re proud to offer tools that genuinely elevate the way teams work.”

As production environments continue to evolve, RGM Cranes remains at the forefront of smart lifting technology, developing solutions that balance power, precision and ease of use.
