Location
Off the shore of Guyana.

Project Owner/s
ExxonMobil affiliate ExxonMobil Guyana holds a 45%interest in the Stabroek block, Hess Guyana Exploration holds 30% and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana 25%.

Project Description
Hammerhead is the seventh project on the Stabroek block.

The development will use a floating production storage and offloading vessel that can produce about 150 000 bbl/d of oil and will include 18 production and injection wells.

Construction is under way on the fifth and sixth approved projects, Uaru and Whiptail respectively, with Uaru expected to start production in 2026 and Whiptail in 2027.

Potential Job Creation
There are currently about 6 200 Guyanese working on the Stabroek block operations – about 70% of the workforce.

Capital Expenditure
$6.8-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
Production is expected to start in 2029.

Latest Developments
ExxonMobil made a final investment decision on the Hammerhead development in October 2025, after receiving the required regulatory approvals
