Firm outlines new controller features

ENHANCED PRODUCT The value of Artic Driers CCS-3200 compressor controller lies in its robust design, user-friendly interface, and energy saving interface
New compressor control system CCS-3200 is a significant piece of equipment for managing and optimising the operation of screw and reciprocating air compressors, highlights compressed air equipment supplier Artic Driers CEO Allen Cockfield.
The all-new CCS-3200 compressor controller is available from Artic Driers in Johannesburg. It is “sensibly priced”, manufactured in Europe, and is designed with the flexibility to be able to control any screw or piston type air compressor “with ease”.
Artic Driers says it is ideal for retrofitting into an existing compressor or acts as a control unit for entities building their own compressor sets in Africa.
Boasting a quick setup and display function, this product is equipped with a backlit liquid crystal display, which helps to provide a “fast and easy” setup. The unit has extensive built-in menu pages where operational features can be configured for any application.
With no need for a master controller, the CCS-3200 control device has built-in “parallel operation” and “equal ageing” algorithms that can configure any number of compressor groups to operate based on power-saving requirements.
The device also features a “failure backup” mode, as well as capacity-based priority programs and demand-based backup algorithms.
The USB port allows system configuration using a licence-free PC-tools software (S/W) package. Additional communication modules can be integrated later if required. The system has supervisory control and data acquisition connectivity, frequency inverter control and other operation features.
All parameters needed to directly control a compressor are available in the system menu and are easily adjusted with the CCS-3200 control module. This controller ensures the compressor operates within defined limits and with the correct phase sequence by measuring three-phase voltage and frequency.
Exhibiting durable and compact functionality, the CCS control panel is designed to provide ingress protection (IP), with a rating of IP65 from the front, and comes with a special sealing rubber gasket behind the frame. The keypad is designed with UV-resistant silicone-rubber technology, offering a “great tactile feel” compared with other membrane keypads. It also features screw-type mounting sockets for easy field servicing.
Artic Driers says the main features of the CCS-3200 compressor controller include multi-language selection, an extensive built-in operation algorithm, an additional communication module for multiple operation, frequency inverter control and remote start functions through digital input.
Other features include six maintenance timers, temperature-dependent fan control, a preheat function, dynamic encryption technology, phase sequence and motor positive temperature coefficient inputs.
