Angola Cables’ connectivity division, Telcables, continues to expand its network capabilities as digital demand grows across Africa.

Recent investments in data centre infrastructure and metropolitan networks have reinforced the capacity of the company’s Africa Digital Bridge to handle increasing traffic volumes while maintaining reliability.

Telcables operates one of Africa’s most advanced digital infrastructure networks, delivering secure, high-performance connectivity solutions across four continents through its strategic ownership in major undersea cables.

The undersea cables include the South Atlantic Cable System (SACS), the West Africa Cable System (WACS) and the Monet cable, which collectively form a robust digital bridge connecting Africa to key global markets.

With direct connections to 930 global data centres and 290 cloud onramps, Telcables enables low-latency, high- capacity data transmission that powers Africa’s digital economy and global connectivity needs.

These assets provide multiple alternative pathways for data traffic between Africa, Europe and the Americas, ensuring reliable connectivity, even during disruptions on traditional routes.

The Africa Digital Bridge infrastructure continues to strengthen the continent’s position in global digital networks.

“The Africa Digital Bridge is not a future project but is operational infrastructure delivering results today,” says Telcables South Africa CEO Sudhir Juggernath.

“With SACS providing direct connectivity to South America, WACS maintaining our European links, and the Monet cable enhancing US connections, we have built a resilient network serving both African and international traffic demands.”

Recent performance metrics demonstrate the systems’ capabilities, with combined capacity across all cable systems now exceeding 12 TB/s.

The SACS route between Africa and the US achieves latency as low as 160 milliseconds, while the network has successfully rerouted traffic during recent cable breaks elsewhere. The infrastructure also features direct links with major global cloud providers.
