Lithium and renewable-energy producer Vulcan Energy Resources.

Project Description
The project forms part of Vulcan’s Phase 1 Lionheart project. It comprises infrastructure necessary for 255 MW of renewable geothermal heat generation, transport and delivery to support Landau’s transition to sustainable and renewable district heating.

Vulcan aims to integrate its two geothermal plants, in Landau and Insheim, with five new production sites totalling 24 wells, which will link to the EnergieSüdwest AG district heating network.

Capital Expenditure
The project was awarded €100-million from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, and the European Recovery and Resilience Facility, in November 2024.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is scheduled to start operating in 2026.
