The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has announced that it is launching an enquiry into reported procurement irregularities. More specifically, the board of the State-owned company has stated that it will appoint an independent company to forensically investigate these alleged irregularities.

Further, the board will request the Auditor General of South Africa to also examine these reports.

The board stated that its decision was the result of these reports of irregularities. The irregularities were apparently in the procurement process for the appointment of independent bid evaluators and “additional resources” for the support of the ACSA Supply Chain Management Department.

ACSA owns and operates nine of South Africa’s airports. These include Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport, and Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.
