Adams & Adams launches platform to advise African clients on AI risks
Law firm Adams & Adams has launched its SMARTAI IP Portal – an advisory service digital platform designed to help businesses understand, assess and address the risks posed by AI systems.
AI adoption is accelerating but, without clear policies and legal oversight, businesses risk losing ownership of their innovations, facing infringement claims or damaging their reputation.
The SMARTAI IP Portal helps organisations proactively manage these risks, ensure compliance and protect intellectual property.
Businesses can complete an online assessment to identify their exposure and readiness across key governance areas. The platform also provides six discrete, expert-led services to help organisations improve their scores by focusing first on high-risk areas and providing bespoke combinations to suit each business's needs.
Additionally, the platform provides practical information and educational guides to empower teams to make informed decisions and implement best practices.
“As AI transforms industries, businesses face new and complex risks, from intellectual property exposure to governance gaps. The SMARTAI IP Portal offers practical ways for businesses to measure their AI readiness and take action.
“Our mission is to empower African businesses to thrive in the age of AI, with legal frameworks and practical solutions that keep pace with technology,” says Adams & Adams AI IP advisory team lead partner Darren Olivier.
“The SMARTAI IP Portal can help to safeguard innovation and build resilient organisations,” adds Adams & Adams AI IP advisory group partner Lita Miti-Qamata.
