Brazil-based aerospace and defence group Embraer has reported that, at the end of the second quarter of this year (2Q25), it recorded the highest ever order backlog in its history, totalling $29.7-billion. For its Commercial Aviation business, the backlog was $13.1-billion, which was a jump of 31% quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) and 16% year-on-year (y-o-y). However, the record figure for this business was $13.4-billion, recorded in the last quarter of 2017. Executive Aviation had a backlog of $7.4-billion, down by just 2%, q-o-q, but a leap of 62%, y-o-y. Defence & Security recorded a backlog of $4.3-billion, an increase of 3% q-o-q but a surge of 100%, y-o-y. The Services & Support business had a backlog of $4.9-billion, up 5% q-o-q but a jump of 55%, y-o-y.

In terms of deliveries, during the first half of this year (1H25), Commercial Aviation, which specialises in smaller single-aisle jet airliners, delivered 26 of these, which was the same number as during the equivalent periods last year (1H24), although the composition of deliveries was slightly different. During 1H25, the company delivered 13 E175s (as against 11 in 1H24), one E190-E2 (compared with four in 1H24) and 12 E195-E2s (whereas 11 had been delivered in 1H24).

The E175 is currently the smallest airliner produced by Embraer, and is the only remaining model of the original E-Jet family to remain in production, although the design has been refined and updated to make it more efficient and cost-effective. Able to take up to 88 passengers, it is the company’s best-selling airliner. The E190-E2 and E195-E2 are the company’s next generation types, with the E195-E2 being the largest airliner it produces (the E195-E2 can take up to 146 passengers).

In terms of orders, 2Q25 saw the E175 achieve the landmark figure of its 1 000th firm order; the type was launched on to the market in 2005. Total firm orders for the three types were – E175, 1 000 (of which 792 delivered); E190-E2, 67 (28 delivered); and E195-E2, 330 (140 delivered).

Executive Aviation delivered 61 jets in 1H25, as against 45 in 1H24. The 61 delivered so far this year were divided into 26 midsize and 35 light jets. The midsize jets were subdivided into 11 Praetor 500s and 15 Praetor 600s, while the light jets were subdivided into six Phenom 100s and 29 Phenom 300s.
