Africa must look to continent’s great sun to provide energy sovereignty

Saddling the African continent with old-fashioned energy is lunacy. Those in Africa wanting to hold on to fossil fuels should not expect the planet-saving world to make exceptions of a continent that has more renewable energy potential going for it than most. What is more, huge bundles of green funding are there for the taking at give-away interest rates.

Clean energy is cheaper than fossil fuel energy, which makes clean energy sovereignty a no-brainer. Those who refuse to help saving the planet must not expect the products they make with fossil-fuel energy to sail into countries that are committed to the Paris Agreement. Fossil-fuel-based products will initially face punitive import tariffs and will ultimately be shown the door.

Wise African countries are not only seizing the wonderful renewable energy opportunity, but also looking to exporting green energy, thanks to their superior sun and prime wind, and premium-priced green products.
