Sector education and training authority the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) says a new CHIETA Accounting Authority has been appointed by Higher Education and Training Minister Buti Manamela with effect from September 30.

He also reappointed Yershen Pillay as CHIETA CEO until March 31, 2030, while the Accounting Authority will be led by interim chairperson Gerhard Cloete.

CHIETA has achieved three consecutive clean audits, 100% performance against its annual performance plan and the establishment of nine smart skills centres nationwide, which have empowered over 41 000 South Africans with digital and future-ready skills, the organisation says.

Further, the newly appointed CHIETA board has committed to working with the CEO, management, staff and stakeholders to strengthen its impact and accelerate progress towards a digitally skilled, inclusive and sustainable South African workforce.

The board and management will continue to position CHIETA as a model of ethical governance, innovation and excellence in the public sector skills development landscape.
