Construction and mining machinery launched locally
China-based machine manufacturer XCMG launched a diverse range of specialist machinery on August 15 in Ruimsig, Johannesburg.
The range includes truck loader cranes, cherry pickers, rollbacks, wheel loaders, excavators, backhoe loaders, skid-steer loaders and truck-mounted mobile cranes.
XCMG South Africa was launched in South Africa in 2007 through a partnership with XCMG, of China, and supplies industrial cranes to the local market. However, the launch of these new machines strengthens the company’s vision to become the leading brand of construction and mining equipment in Africa.
“Five years ago, the world was hit by a financial crisis and South Africa was no exception. “We have always had faith in the economic recovery of South Africa and the continuous improvements of our products’ quality,” says XCMG South Africa MD David Dai.
Its extensive presence in South Africa adds to XCMG’s far-reaching global footprint. By the end of 2013, XCMG exported machinery to 169 countries in Asia, the Middle East, South America, Australia, Europe and North America.
Further, in 2012, XCMG achieved an export turnover of more than $900-million and is the largest construction equipment manufacturer in China, with turnover of $16.4-billion.
“For XCMG, South Africa is a vital market, as it is the financial and economic centre of Africa, and its stable political environment provides a safe investment environment,” says Dai.
“With the establishment of the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership in 2010, bilateral trade increased quickly. In 2012, trade figures reached $59-billion, which translates into a yearly growth of 31.8%. Cooperation in the fields of energy, resources, manufacture and finance has achieved great success,” explains Dai.
“With this healthy trade-exchange partnership in place, the company conducted extensive market research in 2013 and found that there is huge potential for introducing an XCMG branch in South Africa, he adds. All XCMG products are supported by extensive quality guarantees. XCMG, of China, uses world-class production lines, with robot welding and painting facilities, as well as the best testing line for construction equipment, which ensures all quality ratings are achieved before export.
The launch was attended by industry representatives, local Chinese dignitaries and global XCMG representatives, with several equipment models also on display.
Since the first shipment of new machines arrived in Johannesburg in May, XCMG SA has signed sales contracts with local clients and the number of offer-to-purchase agreements is still increasing. As the sales volume increases, XCMG SA will also commit to providing the best after-sales service for all clients, concludes Dai.
