D2M system grows its Plascon Acryline range
A RAINBOW OF COLOURS Kansai Plascon’s D2M range is available in thousands of different hues
Owing to global demand for smarter painting systems that are cost effective and reduce process time, coatings company Kansai Plascon has introduced its Acryline Direct-2-Metal (D2M) system of automotive paints, which is considered as one of South Africa’s leading commercial-vehicle (CV) coating ranges.
D2M was created to save time and money during the paint application process, with the drying process fast-tracked, as the primer and topcoat are combined into one application.
Kansai Plascon automotive team brand manager Bavita Valab says the D2M system produces a high-quality finish and its turnaround time is much shorter because, once the substrate is cleaned using the precleaner and all contamination is removed, the topcoat can be instantly applied and left to air-dry and/or bake.
The D2M system is self-priming and provides an extremely high-gloss finish.
The D2M system has a range of colours as per the tinting system, convenient all-in-one solution, flow colour retention and good adhesion. Subsequently, the end-product maintains a good chemical and weather resistance.
Valab points out that the D2M system is not only suitable for the CV sector, but can also be used on agricultural and construction equipment, gas cylinders, among others. The material can be applied directly to mild steel, galvanised surfaces, aluminium and stainless steel.
Kansai Plascon has its own mixing bank system consisting of a range of toners with black and white as standard products. The D2M system can also be filled into Plascon’s TouchUp system which consists of automotive paint filled into an aerosol can for smaller do-it-yourself applications.
