Energywise (EW) specialises in the design and manufacture of LED light fittings for industrial, commercial, retail and horticultural use. With multiple accolades and awards to its name, including Energy Company of the Year on two occasions (awarded by the South African Association for Energy Efficiency) and sourcing from some of the world’s most renowned component manufacturers, EW believes that if you use the best you get the best. Led by CEO Andrea Barausse, who is recognised as one of the foremost lighting experts in Southern Africa, this is a research- and development-led company with some serious clout, as it also owns one of South Africa’s only dedicated photometric lighting laboratories. Considering the above, the company motto of ‘Better Lights Through Research’ certainly appears to have solid grounding.

The company’s proudly South African designed and assembled luminaires are lighting up the facilities of some of the biggest names in the country from SAPPI to Tiger Brands and from ABI to BELL, Boxer, Mondi, Richards Bay Coal Terminal, Pick ‘n Pay and Hulamin to name a few.

The company prides itself on delivering a simple promise, and that is “what’s on the box, is in the box”. EW are also distributors of three brands of spectrometers putting the ability to verify their claims in their customers’ hands.

Their range of EX fittings are of particular interest to customers and while their range is relatively new and still growing, it is already impressive in both capacity and price point. It will be interesting to see what new ideas get churned out of their Durban-based production facility and laboratory in the future.
