Heavy-duty industrial valve manufacturing and services provider Flowrox has launched the Flowrox Expulse flexible pulsation dampener, designed to assist during pump and dampener maintenance by reducing noise and vibration. Noise and vibration can lead to pipe damage that causes breakage and revenue loss.

The Flowrox Expulse was designed for the oil and gas, mining, metallurgy, and other industries where pipes and valves are used to move materials or fluids using pressure.

With more than 30 years of experience and thousands of products installed in facilities for various heavy industries across the globe, Flowrox’s extensive knowledge and experience are applied into every new product design.

“The Expulse is an effective alternative to traditional pulsating pumps dampeners that reduce noise and vibration that cause pipe breakage,” Flowrox president Todd Loudin says.

Traditional pulsating pump dampeners are known to produce unbalanced shaking that can result in failure or operational drawbacks, which, in turn, require additional add-ons and devices to counter its challenges, he explains.

Loudin adds that the company designed a complete solution for its pulsation dampener system, which reduces noise, while simultaneously settling pressure peaks and ensuring a continuous fluid flow.

The dampener settles restless pipes and uneven flows, while its design is based on a double-hose structure with an expansive inner hose, reinforced outer hose and compressed air in-between the two. Owing to its structure, the Flowrox Expulse is able to absorb up to 90% of pulsations and even more in the right process conditions.

Key features of the Flowrox Expulse include the product’s ability to reduce energy consumption in an operation by up to 10%, largely as a result of its absorption of pulsations.

In addition, the device’s reduction in the hammering of the pipeline and pump can lead to an extended operational lifetime for the pump bearing and gearbox – two critical components in pipeline operations that face wear and tear in high-performance environments, says Loudin.

“A shutdown, owing to a threat to pipe integrity can not only be costly, but also hampers the ability to generate revenue for clients who depend on this type of equipment,” says Loudin.

“Therefore, we have designed the Flowrox Expulse to help reduce the chance of pipe damage and breakage in a cost-effective manner.”

The solution offered by the Flowrox Expulse flexible pulsation dampener further prevents the collection of sediment, particles or residue, owing to its built-in self-cleaning feature, Loudin highlights.

Flowrox includes a one-year guarantee and will replace the hose set in the event of a break-age while using the Flowrox Expulse system, Loudin concludes.
