Ford SA launches programme for specialised commercial vehicle conversions

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Ford SA) has launched the Ford Pro Convertor (FPC) programme for commercial market customers seeking specialised vehicle conversions.

The programme allows Ford-approved converters to carry out modifications on selected Ranger, Everest and Transit product lines, in order to meet a range of commercial and industrial needs, be it a dropside bakkie, ambulance, emergency response vehicle, armoured protection car, mining and construction support vehicle, or any other bespoke conversion.

The programme ensures that all of the conversions meet Ford’s standards, while it also preserves the original factory warranty on all non-modified components.

It also means that all of the converted vehicles are supported through Ford SA’s dealer network.

Customers can contact their Ford dealer, which will then direct them to the FPC programme.

Following a consultation and quotation process, and once payment or finance arrangements are finalised, the dealer will coordinate with the approved convertor to complete the modifications.

Lead times range from four to six weeks, but can vary based on the nature of the individual conversion project.

The conversion itself is covered by the approved convertor’s warranty.

In addition, the convertor will issue a homologation certificate upon completion, ensuring that the vehicle is legally registered in its converted form, and that it can be sold without the need to revert to its original specification.

Given the wide variety of conversion types, pricing is tailored individually, based on customer requirements.
