After the recent devastation in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, engineering solutions provider BMG’s agricultural specialists are working even more closely with the agricultural community to help curtail the shortage of fresh produce in South Africa.

“BMG’s agricultural team is well positioned to help farmers optimise food production and to alleviate the devastating effects of looting and warehousing destruction in parts of the country. Farmers have been under pressure during the Covid-19 pandemic to increase food supply and are now facing greater challenges to boost the supply of desperately needed fresh foods,” explains BMG agricultural manager Carlo Beukes.

He notes that, apart from the supply of engineering components to help during this crisis, the agricultural team, through BMG’s Boer Slim/Smart Farming initiative, is focusing on offering farming sustainability solutions for effective food production and the correct use of equipment and efficient maintenance programmes.

“We are heartened to work with more and more local farmers who acknowledge that advanced equipment is necessary to optimise productivity and minimise downtime.” Farmers understand that this investment translates into tangible operational efficiencies. “They accept that there is value in high quality equipment and replacement parts, rather than the use of outdated, ‘cheap’ and inferior components.”

BMG is committed to supplying quality guaranteed products that can replace worn-out original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) or old mechanical parts at a lower price than the original equipment product, with no compromise on quality. For example, BMG offers a good quality corn-picker chain at a lower price than the OEM part. All products supplied by BMG conform to all relevant international quality assurance and specification certifications.

“Our team is working around the clock to support all key players in the agricultural sector, including local manufacturers of equipment and implements, as well as agricultural resellers and farmers. What is critical right now, is a total solutions service that encompasses the immediate availability of a comprehensive range of products throughout the country, which is enhanced by technical support.”

BMG’s high-quality replacement agricultural components are engineered to improve productivity in the farming sector and to operate efficiently for extended periods, with minimal maintenance requirements. Capital investment and operational costs in the long term are also reduced.
