Infrastructure Africa, Africa’s premier platform for infrastructure investment and development, will convene industry leaders, financiers, developers, and policy-makers in Cape Town from 2 – 3 March 2026 to address one of the continent’s most pressing challenges: transforming early-stage infrastructure projects into bankable, investment-ready assets.

A highlight of the 2026 programme is the session “Infrastructure Project Preparation: From Pipeline to Bankability”, which will focus on the critical early stages of project development and the role of private capital in accelerating Africa’s infrastructure growth.

Why this matters:
Africa faces a persistent infrastructure gap, with trillions of dollars required across energy, transport, water, and urban development to meet the continent’s growth objectives. While many projects are conceptualised, few reach the investment-ready stage due to technical, regulatory, and financial barriers. Proper project preparation — from feasibility studies to structured financing — is essential to unlock private sector investment and ensure successful delivery.

Key discussion points will include:

  • Overcoming early-stage project challenges, including regulatory, environmental, and technical hurdles
  • Structuring projects to attract domestic and international private investment
  • Case studies of successful African infrastructure projects that moved from concept to finance
  • Innovative financing solutions, risk mitigation, and partnerships that de-risk projects for investors
  • Speakers and participants will include government officials, infrastructure fund managers, project developers, banks, and development finance institutions who are shaping the future of Africa’s infrastructure landscape.
