Innomotics revolutionises industry with integrated solutions
Global technology and innovation leader Siemens is making waves in the mining industry with the launch of Innomotics as an independent motors, large drives and solutions powerhouse for the industry. The company's focus on integrating motors, medium voltage variable speed drives, automation systems and digital offerings into comprehensive solutions positions it as a formidable player in driving innovation for rotating equipment and power conversion across various industries, with a specific emphasis on the mining sector.
The recently launched Innomotics is an independent company that draws on Siemens' rich heritage. Innomotics South Africa CEO Tim Walwyn says the company specialises in providing integrated engineering solutions for electrification, automation and digitalisation processes in mining. With a comprehensive portfolio of motors and medium voltage variable speed drives, Innomotics is poised to bring about innovative solutions to optimise energy consumption, enhance process efficiency and help mines meet their ESG and carbon reduction targets.
Walwyn highlights that Innomotics' core focus is on the mining sector, emphasising how their products and solutions enable optimisation in terms of energy consumption, process efficiency and overall operational performance. “The goal is to facilitate the mining industry in meeting environmental and sustainability targets while reaping the benefits of streamlined operations,” he notes.
Pit-to-Port Experience
A key highlight of Innomotics' capabilities lies in its commitment to digitalisation. The demonstration of the pit-to-port experience showcases how visualising the entire value chain of mining operations, from mining to transportation, processing, stockpiling, logistics and consumption, can lead to tangible benefits.
“This approach facilitates collaboration between different functional departments by integrating data from various sources, enabling identification of areas for improvement and optimisation across the entire mining process,” says Innomotics executive vice president: minerals Sven Demmig.
As a new brand in the market, Innomotics aims to create awareness about its rich history of innovation and the capabilities and the value it brings to the mining industry. Attending the Mining Indaba 2024 provides a platform for Innomotics to introduce itself as a powerful global company with a focus on South Africa, actively engaging with mining businesses to offer services and solutions across the continent.
“Innomotics distinguishes itself by offering a full line of solutions, ranging from small to large motors in the multi-megawatt power range and the world’s leading portfolio of medium voltage variable speed drives, even encompassing process automation and digital solutions. The company's unique combination of deep knowledge in mining processes and expertise in digital technologies allows us to provide a holistic perspective on the industry,” says Demmig.
Navigating Global Economic Challenges
Despite the challenges posed by the current global economic climate, Innomotics, with its global presence and dedicated project managers, remains optimistic about the mining industry's long-term outlook. The company sees opportunities in the mining sector's contribution to the green economy, particularly in Africa, where abundant critical minerals can drive the green transition.
Innomotics, as a Siemens business, is positioned to be a key player in shaping the future of the mining industry by offering innovative solutions that align with sustainability goals and operational efficiency.
