Intelsat, Openserve partner to advance connectivity throughout South Africa
Global integrated satellite and terrestrial networks operator Intelsat and South African telecommunications group Telkom subsidiary Openserve have embarked on a project that will modernise the infrastructure provider’s network across South Africa.
Through the duo’s renewed and expanded longstanding collaboration, which will include new hardware and satellite connectivity, Intelsat will modernise more than 900 sites for Openserve, with the infrastructure upgrades underway and on track for completion by the end of June 2024.
This is expected to improve performance of the network and help deliver higher throughputs to end customers at a lower cost, with the modernisation enhancing services to businesses, organisations and communities in the hard-to-reach areas.
“Through this renewed collaboration, Openserve will modernise its network infrastructure and tap into Intelsat’s advanced technology and global network to deliver enhanced, highly reliable and dependable connectivity solutions that meet the evolving demands of enterprises, governments, businesses and communities across South Africa,” said Intelsat Europe, Middle East and Africa regional VP sales Rhys Morgan.
