Jan Oberholzer appointed director of renewable energy project developer JER Group
Sub-Saharan Africa renewable energy project developer Jearrard Energy Resources (JER) Group has appointed former Eskom executive Jan Oberholzer as a nonexecutive director.
Oberholzer brings a wealth of knowledge of the energy sector in Africa to JER, continuing to strengthen the capability and knowledge base of the board.
He will be responsible for various advisory roles during the implementation and roll-out of the solar-to-green-hydrogen projects that JER is implementing in Mozambique, as well as in other countries in Southern Africa.
JER is developing a 12 GW solar-to-green-hydrogen facility with a green hydrogen export facility in Mozambique.
The facility will supply green hydrogen to the port for export, as well as green hydrogen for power plants and nano- and micro-grid solutions for villages and towns, where roll-out will be developed with the authorities in Mozambique, JER says.
“We look forward to working with Jan on these exciting projects as JER contributes in a small way to achieving the planet’s goal of net zero by 2050.”
