Joshco releases app to help tackle fraud, corruption in housing application process
In a strategic move to tackle inefficiency, fraud and corruption, the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (Joshco) has transitioned from a paper-based application process to a leasing app.
The previous user-friendly system, though accessible, had vulnerabilities that allowed fraudulent activities and contributed to delays in processing applications, the company points out.
As a result, Joshco's new leasing app aims to revolutionise the application process, significantly reducing turnaround times and eradicating the potential for corruption and fraud.
Spokesperson Esethu Njenjani says the app's enhanced security features make it less susceptible to replication, thereby providing a robust defence against fraudulent activities.
“Joshco is unwavering in its commitment to maintaining data integrity and fortifying defences against potential exploitation by scammers. The digital transition aligns with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4, safeguarding applicants' personal information from scams perpetrated by individuals posing as Joshco agents,” Njenjani explains.
While preserving the secure data-keeping hallmark of the traditional paper process, the new app introduces additional layers of security and reliability.
This streamlined app process ensures sensitive information is kept secure and managed efficiently.
Beyond expediting applications, the new leasing app acts as a deterrent against scammers, thus prioritising the safety and security of applicants.
“As Joshco strides boldly into the digital era, we’re sending a clear message that efficiency and security are paramount,” says Njenjani.
This transition addresses past shortcomings and reinforces Joshco's commitment to delivering a reliable and secure housing application process.
“By embracing technology, Joshco aspires to set new industry standards, ensuring a seamless, trustworthy, and user-friendly experience for individuals seeking housing opportunities."
