From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.

Sashnee Moodley:

Original-equipment manufacturer Kwatani’s fabrication jobbing processes are designed to accommodate custom-designed equipment in similar time frames that other OEMs deliver standard equipment, while also being flexible enough to handle emergency orders with short lead times. Cameron Mackay tells us more

Cameron Mackay:

Kwatani’s facilities in Kempton Park, in Johannesburg, cover about 17 000 m2. This includes the head office; and facilities for administration; fabrication; assembly; stainless steel welding; building and repairing exciter gear boxes; electrical motor repair assembly; as well as testing facilities and an extensive warehouse.

Kwatani’s plant and infrastructure allows the company to swiftly undertake large-scale, multiple machine production projects in-house, from conception to completion.

The company’s production capacity includes a combined crane capacity of 170 tons; two spray booth facilities and two shot-blast facilities; welding machines; a 50 ton hydraulic press brake; fully loaded exciter gearbox, unbalanced motor and electromagnetic motor test rigs; screen and feeder testing facilities; a separate stainless steel facility, and a pilot plant and laboratories for product sampling.

Kwatani CEO Kim Schoepflin:

Cameron Mackay:

Kwatani employs a motivated, value-driven and multiskilled workforce, with a low turnover rate, resulting in retention of skills. Kwatani equipment is manufactured by qualified boilermakers with vast experience. Kwatani produces superior welding quality through its highly skilled welders, coded on the AWS D1.1 welding standard.

The company’s drive department also has highly skilled artisans, and a qualified artisan is also dedicated to building customised test rigs for each customised unit, in line with production and dispatch requirements.

Kwatani CEO Kim Schoepflin:

Cameron Mackay:

Kwatani has a complete in-house test facility to test all machines prior to dispatch.

The facilities include versatile testing equipment such as a vibrating screen, in which parameters such as drive angle, decline, stoke and acceleration can be adjusted to determine the optimal screening parameters prior to design.

Kwatani CEO Kim Schoepflin:
