Lutchman appointed as new GIBB CEO
South African multi-disciplinary engineering consulting company GIBB Holdings has confirmed the appointment of Vishaal Lutchman as its new CEO.
A registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa and a certified project management professional, Lutchman read for a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
He also holds a Master of Philosophy in Leadership, a Master's in Business Administration, and is currently completing his PhD, with the focus on sustainability in infrastructure.
Lutchman has more than 27 years of experience in the management of infrastructure-related businesses, most recently as both MD of Zutari’s Transport business and MD of its Greater Africa business.
He also previously served as CEO of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering, where he remains a fellow. He is also a fellow of the South African Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineering (UK).
In his new role, Lutchman says he will focus on revitalising the business, with a view to doubling its net profit over the next five years.
“I’m eager to leverage the firm’s nearly seven-decade legacy, along with the expertise of its teams in power, mining, water, transport, industrial, project finance and development, property and petrochemicals and energy, to achieve this goal in a cohesive and integrated manner."
Former CEO Richard Vries assumes the role of executive chairperson and will oversee the growth of GIBB Investments in infrastructure, including in the renewable-energy, water and rail sectors.
