MAN Truck and Bus SA is always searching for ways to simplify business. Their team of engineers and product specialists are constantly receiving feedback from customers in order to create product solutions that fulfil their needs. They have now developed the TGX 26.480 BL SA, a vehicle curated with the fuel and energy industry in mind. The introduction of this model also marks the expansion of MAN’s Euro 5 product portfolio, reinforcing the commitment to high-efficiency, low emission engines.
This model has been specified with due cognisance to the entire value chain of the energy business. From the loading, in transit and delivery of all forms of petroleum products, every aspect was considered when creating this vehicle.
The TGX 26.480 is powered by the proven MAN D2676 common rail engine with a power rating of 480hp at 1800rpm and 2300Nm at 1050 - 1350rpm. Delivering on performance without compromising on our environmental sustainability goals. The robust MAN TipMatic Over Drive gearbox with Retarder mated to the latest generation MAN hypoid rear axles and a longer final drive ratio maximizes fuel economy for improved total cost of ownership.
The vehicle offers improved aerodynamics derived from an excellent matching of the cab to the type of semi-trailers deployed in this application. The wider cab has a lower coefficient of drag for unparalleled fuel efficiency, especially when coupled with low height tankers and trailers. Should the application call for high volume loads an aero-kit may be included to mitigate the impact of drag and reduce the power required to overcome wind resistance. The wider cab translates into a more spacious cab interior prioritising driver comfort and optimizing the driver’s workspace. For added versatility this cab comes with a single sleeper bunk. This positions the vehicle to be able to not only conduct regional day trips but, overnight/long haul trips as well. The vehicle is standard with a three-piece steel bumper, making it more robust, protecting the vehicle from minor dents and damage that may occur while manoeuvring in-and out of docking stations.
The new TGX 26.480 is equipped with ADR cabling. This safety critical corrugated wiring is a regulatory requirement for transporting large quantities of Class 1 explosive substances or flammable fluids and gases. The ADR requirements are regulated to prevent the accumulation of heat and subsequently formation of flames.
Because the safety of both the driver and load is critical in this application segment, the TGX 26.480 has a myriad of safety features which amongst many include advanced Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) incorporating both Dynamic Stability (DSP) and Rollover Prevention (RPP), Anti-Slip Control (ASR), Lane Guard System (LGS), Drivers Airbag and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). The electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS) further ensures ease of coupling of semi-trailers and load comfort. The MAN BrakeMatic with Bremsomat and Cruise Control with Speed Limiter relieves the driver from undue driving stress enhancing overall road safety.
The MAN TGX 26.480 is a standout choice for businesses in the energy industry. Ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency in every journey.
