Name of the Project
Murchison renewable hydrogen project.

Location
The project will be built at Murchison House Station, in Western Australia. The location has been proposed because it has one of the best combinations of wind and solar capabilities in Australia, which could facilitate cost-effective production of green hydrogen for local industry and global export.

Project Owner/s
Hydrogen Renewables Australia and Siemens.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a large-scale – up to 5 000 MW – combined solar and wind farm to produce low-cost renewable hydrogen or green hydrogen.

The proposed project will be developed in stages, comprising:

∙ a demonstration phase, which will provide hydrogen for transport fuels,

∙ an expansion phase, which will allow for the blending with natural gas in the nearby Dampier-to-Bunbury pipeline,

∙ a large expansion phase, which will produce hydrogen for the Asian markets, notably Japan and Korea.

The project could supply as much as 10% of Asia’s hydrogen demand.
